What is General Surgery

General surgery is a medical department that uses surgical methods to treat diseases that cannot be treated with medication or other methods. It is possible to evaluate the surgical methods in two different categories as open and closed surgery. Due to the more painless and rapid progression of the post-operation healing process, closed surgical methods have been frequently preferred by doctors and patients recently. The General Surgery Department, which collaborates with many different medical specialties, such as oncology, endocrinology, traumatology, has different working areas in itself.General surgery is one of the most common departments where new generation medical applications are used and it is a medical field where successful results can be obtained by using robotic technology frequently in recent times.

Hemorrhoids

Hemorrhoids are the enlarged veins at the end of the anal canal which are located at the bottom of the anus. The walls of these blood vessels are sometimes stretched enough to cause the veins to continue to swell and become irritated. This swelling goes out of the anus as a result of irritation . Hemorrhoids are divided into internal and external hemorrhoids and are measured at four different levels according to the symptoms.

Symptoms

  • The most important symptom of 1st-degree hemorrhoids is bleeding. Hemorrhoids are determined during rectoscopy, which is carried out for diagnosis.
  • Second-degree hemorrhoids show itching symptoms as well as bleeding. These are determined during the anal examination and straining.
  • Third-degree hemorrhoids show flix or wetness in the rectum symptoms, as well as bleeding and itching. It is determined during the anal examination by the hemorrhoid swellings protruding out of the anus. These can be sent inside during the examination.
  • Fourth-degree hemorrhoids show pain symptoms as well as flix, bleeding, and itching. During the examination, the swellings cannot be sent inside. At this level, the hemorrhoid swellings cannot be sent inside.

Treatment

Disturbing symptoms usually heal spontaneously, especially in external hemorrhoids. The doctor will determine an appropriate treatment plan based on the severity of the symptoms.

The methods used for Hemorrhoid treatment are lifestyle changes, drugs and surgery. Although these methods can easily treat hemorrhoids, the possibility of hemorrhoid recurrence increases if the conditions that cause hemorrhoids are not changed.

Pilonidal Sinus

It is a name given to the hair socket under the skin and is usually seen in men under the age of 30. Pilonidal sinus is a skin problem that is described as an inflammation and filling of a subcutaneous cyst with skin rash and which then fistulates in various ways to drain the skin. Cyst formation is caused by the accumulation of debris under the skin, hair, fat, epithelial tissue and other skin tissues, as well as inflamed tissues in that area.

Symptoms

  • Flex
  • Pain
  • Itching
  • Burning sensation

Although Pilonidal sinus is mostly observed in the area between the hips, it can also occur in the armpit, belly or groin.

Treatment

Local care and baths, epilation, crystallized phenol application and surgical methods can be used according to the stage of the disease.
