The skin is the largest organ in the body, so it can be subjected to various diseases. The symptoms and treatments of some of these diseases are as follows

Eczema

Eczema (atopic dermatitis) is a chronic skin disorder that causes dry, scaly skin eruption and severe itching. Itching of the skin can cause red blisters on the skin surface, thickened skin, and open cuts. Severe itching makes it harder to fall asleep. This causes fatigue, poor performance at school and work, difficulty in carrying out daily activities, and negatively affects the life quality.

Symtoms and Treatment

  • Dry, scaly lesions
  • Dry skin
  • Skin thickening
  • Blister in the skin
  • Redness and swelling of the skin
  • Changes in skin color
  • Skin sensitivity
  • Skin injuries during scratching

There is no definitive treatment for eczema. However, it is possible to protect the skin, relieve itching, prevent or control inflammation and infection with the treatments. As an example

  • Treatments containing corticosteroids that can be taken orally or intravenously
  • Other drugs that can prevent the immune system from overrunning
  • Phototherapy: Treatment of skin lesions using ultraviolet lights

Hyperidrosis

While exercising , in warm weather and during stress, the body responds metabolically and sweat glands excrete much more sweat.

It is pathological for a person to sweat profusely without such triggers. It is called excessive sweating, or hyperhidrosis. People with hyperhidrosis also sweat even if their body temperature does not increase. Uncontrollable sweating can cause significant physical and psychological disorders. Most people with hyperhidrosis experience constantly sweating in some parts of their bodies. The most common areas of excessive sweating are the armpits, palms, foot and head. These body parts sweat profusely, while the rest of the body stays dry.

Some of the treatments that help control hyperhidrosis include

Antiperspirants: This would probably be the first approach a dermatologist would recommend. An antiperspirant can be effective for hyperhidrosis when it is used as specified. Some people may need a stronger antiperspirant, in this case it can be prescribed by a dermatologist.

Iontophoresis: If excessive sweating affects your hands, feet, or both limbs, iontophoresis may be an option. In this treatment method, you place your hands in a water bowl.A medical device sends a gentle electrical current through water. The function of treated sweat glands is temporarily stopped by the electrical current. This treatment relieves many people.

Botulinum toxin (botox) injections: Your dermatologist may inject a small amount of this medication into your armpits or other areas. A very small amount of botulinum toxin should be injected into many areas of the patient's armpits to treat excessive sweating. If it is done correctly, the patient's pain is reduced and they feel more comfortable. The sweating reduction takes about 4 to 6 months, sometimes even longer. If excessive sweating occurs again, this treatment can be applied again.

Dermocosmetic

The term dermo-cosmetic refers to nondrug products which are used for skin health and the applications having been approved dermatologically by the tests . The following derma cosmetic procedures are applied in our contracted hospitals

  • PRP treatment: PRP stands for PlateletRichPlasma. It is plasma enriched with platelets, from blood cells. It is used for skin rejuvenation.
